Great brewery. Now there are also small 5 liter party kegs and an exclusive beer brandy. The hit. That's how Corona can be survived ;-)
That is the original Päffgen here and absolute class.
Waited 45 minutes at noon and got neither a menu nor a Kölsch. The next table has meanwhile got 4 rounds. 2 waiters for a completely full shop is simply not enough, the waiters were nice and really tried hard. The criticism is not meant personally
Anti-social staff. The very last. The reservation lost and then mobbed me. I left immediately. Dirty shop. Never again !
Guest friendly Good kitchen Good conditions Pleasant atmosphere And the beer is the best ..... ???
Always nice to be here ... great atmosphere. The Köbese could like to be a little more unfriendly ???. No, everything is great! Work right around the corner, then you can come in for a beer during your lunch break .... ?
Good food, great beer! Köbes always friendly and funny
Very nice service, delicious food, just typical Kölsch.
Food is „ok“, location nice, service extremely unfriendly.
It was very nice for me to be back in Päffgen after a long time. After a memorial service I treated myself to a delicious leck lunch and two Kölsch! That was a good choice and Köbes No. 18 was very personable and attentive! Greetings to him, and ... I'll be back soon, certainly with friends in tow ?
Fantastic Local food and super fresh craft beer. My favorite place to drink Kölsch in Köln
Excellent evening, as always. Relaxed and casual atmosphere, delicious food and the best Kölsch in town! We will be back!!
Very relaxed and old-fashioned Cologne location. Staff very open-minded and friendly. The Kölsch is also one of the better ones in town, but there is a lack of variety of drinks. The food is unfortunately not recommended, ready-made sauces, quite small amounts and salty in taste. I will definitely not order food here anymore, I cannot remember having eaten worse before. That's why I only give it 3 stars.
Excellent beer. Ordered pan fried black pudding with rye bread.
Great beer, but waited a long time for the next Kölsch. Eat rather average brewery kitchen
One of the best brauhaus in Köln. In addition, the Päffgen is really the most tasty brand of Kölsch Bier.
Ha Kölsch beer is the best... the food is Haksen, but...
awesome food, beer and service / not to believe cannot pay by credit card?!
Go here regularly. Very tasty food, attentive and good, Cologne service (Köbes). The Kölsch tastes particularly good here. Tip: Schnitzel with french fries and malt sauce or roast pork marinated in beer. And about all the negative comments here regarding the service and the Köbesse: If you are not from Cologne, you should perhaps first find out what a Köbes is, what makes it special and what makes it so special.
Unfriendly Service - even for a brewery. If you're from cologne you're used to your "Köbes" being a little rough. But the one serving us was just plain rude. There's better breweries in town. Loads.
Quality ok, Service below average. Every single beer had to be remembered, the other orders were also taken rather reluctantly. It's a shame about the nice atmosphere and the good location. Visit on 8/8/20
Previously liked this brewery and the Biergarten area is comfortable, but we experienced very rude service from our waiter. Our waiter ignored us, talked with a negative attitude, and refused to serve us during the last call (despite taking orders from the tables next to us); my boyfriend and I have never experienced such rudeness from a waiter before and we’ve been to a lot of breweries in Köln. The other waiters were nice though and resolved the situation.
Always a pleasure
10/5 amazing as always! Great service, fast and nice!
I'm giving this place 5 stars because it is an authentic Kolsch experience! The beer is terrific, the food is good, and I love everything about Paffgen. You must go if you are in Koln!
You can call after 12 hours to make a reservation. Called at 2 pm to make a reservation for people before half past 8. No, not necessary at all, there is enough space! That was the reaction ... We get there! Full! Well, no idea why that happened, I answered the phone blah blah blah. Will there be room in half an hour? No idea. This is not Paffgen, this is BAD MANAGEMENT!
It is a German still life that they make home-made beer that they only sell there ... it really is worth going, and many times. The attention is excellent and the menu is very complete. It is cheap and quality. The place is very big and there are always people inside. We had a pork knuckle with sauerkraut and mashed potatoes that the waiter recommended and another dish with mashed potatoes and apple with homemade black pudding. Everything super delicious!
Horrible service
Disappointing service
Good beer and food. When you come to Cologne, you shoud go in Päffgen. That is how german pubs look like ?
Great place! Good beer!
I am not a connoisseur of German cuisine and beer, but I liked the environment, the service and the beer with the food. The strangest thing was that the beer was poured into 200ml glasses ...
Traditional German brewery with nice beer and good atmosphere.
Ignore all reviews about rude staff - that how in every traditional German bar. Such bars have, usually, only one local brewed beer from casks and really good German food. It's great to try real traditional kitchen here, which is different from many new places around here.
The best
Beer + German pub food ?? Make a reservation if you want to eat during weekends
Delicious food, great beer and friendly/casual atmosphere!!
Highly recommend this place to get an exclusive German cuisine experience as well as learn a thing or two about the German culture. Meaty food and beer. Something interesting I learnt is that the beer is brewed in-house. The place is really busy, but the good kind of busy. It's especially great with family or friends.
Excellent food, atmosphere and the best Kölsch. My wife and I visited on a Wednesday evening and it was very busy. The waiter sat us with some locals who were very friendly and this only added to the experience. Highly recommend it if you are searching for an authentic german brewery experience.
Great experience in Köln! A must-visit to try local food and local Kölsch, wow! All the barmans are very entertaining and they take care that you always have Kölsch on the table. Very special experience.
Delicious food, Kölsch and great service. Don’t understand some of the disappointed guests. The waiters were all polite, friendly and had a good laugh. Felt genuine and relaxed! Ps try the bratwurst... yes the 3/4m one. Wow.
waiters act like somebody but actually they are nobody. Rude and ignorant. forget about their tasks and who they are. they are the worst ever.
Great atmosphere, friendly staff, good beer and nice place
You feel like a local, because you do not have a choice of the beer - you want one? Coming right up! Snacks are very traditional and tasty. Refilled immediately after finishing. Great atmosphere and location.
Indeed a genuine German brewery. Despite being described as a 'beer-flavored-water' I like the kolsch. Unfortunately, the food is nothing exciting. The staff is sometimes impatient and grumpy.
The embodiment of all German grumpiness is outstandily present in the staff here. They threw the food in our table, barked at us while ordering food, one plate arriving 30 mins later than the rest. When paying, they guy took the money and left. I literally had to go back to him to ask for the change, he ended up throwing the change to the floor (literally) I'm amazed people still comes here, although probably its just because they are one of the few truly German restaurants. Genuine experience.
We waited „hours“ for service.
Pretty nice Brauhaus. Food is typically German (lots of meat and potatoes). The beer is good but the selection of non-alcoholic drinks is very small. Can be kinda noisy but that is part of the Brauhaus vibe.
Kolsch was delicious, liked that they sort of just assumed you were there to drink and gave you Kolsch without asking so you felt like a local. Someone from my group came in with a Starbucks though and the waiter was very curt with him saying he needed to leave first to finish his coffee, twice. All customers seemed to just be sitting talking, for my family we prefer to play games/cards to get the conversation flowing which they were quick to tell us this wasn't the place. Overall the beer is good but it's more of a sit and chat atmosphere.
Traditional brewery and eatery. Good balance of locals and tourists.
